SCS may eliminate grading floors

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Upcoming changes in Shelby County Schools' grading system would effectively remove grading floors.

SCS unveiled changes as part of its Destination 2025 initiative. It aims for the district to have at least 80 percent of its seniors ready for college or the workforce in 2025.

Officials said they want to implement "standards-based grading" in order to better compare students' work to the mastery needed in certain subjects.
