Refugee expresses relief after mayor's comments

In a Memphis hotel room this morning a woman's faith in mankind was restored..

By watching Mayor Willie Herenton's news conference, Samantha Johnson, learned help is on the way.

The New Orleans native won't have to pay for a hotel room anymore to house the 11 members of her family displaced by the storm..

Her son, and nieces and nephews will have a place to go to school.

"I can only say its God, thank you, angels are coming out of the sky to help us Jesus," Johnson said.
She's a far cry from where she was 24-hours ago, as she watched her city and her home under water.

Making matters worse, someone broke into the family car, taking almost everything they had left.
But as soon as she told her story to Action News 5, things started to change.

"It was almost a blessing a disguise that the car was broken into," she said. "The car was stolen because the city people can see what we're going through. We're going through so much now."
Strangers brought them food, others are offering their help.  Those acts of kindness have renewed her strength to go on.

"I'm just going to start over, take care of everything I need to take care of, and do everything I need to do," Johnson said.
