Tiger Tight End's Family Rescued From Wrath of Katrina

The Wrath of Hurricane Katrina hit especially close to home for one Memphis Tigers Football Player..

Senior Tight end John Doucette is from New Orleans..

He just heard from his family Wednesday afternoon.

As many as 10 of his family members were rescued from the roof of their home Wednesday..

They'd been stranded there by floodwaters for the past 3-days.

Doucette says his family was taken to the Superdome for shelter...but when that massive structure was closed due to lack of electricity and no running water...officials later transferred them to Lafayette, Louisiana about 2-hours away.

Noseguard Lavalle Washington is also from New Orleans..

His family escaped the tragedy...

But U of M Sports Information Director Jennifer Rodriguez family wasn't so lucky.

They live in Slidell, just north of Lake Ponchartrain.

Her brothers' home was destroyed..

Her Parents aren't sure the fate of their dwelling...they're visiting here in Memphis.

Her Grandparents rode out the storm...but were found to be O.K.
