Jerry Rice, the N-F-L's all-time leading receiver,
has announced his retirement. Arguably one of the greatest players
of all time, the 42-year-old Rice spent the summer in the Denver
Broncos camp trying to make the team as its number-three wide
receiver. But the Broncos told he would be a fourth or fifth
receiver at best this season. At Monday's news conference, the
former Mississippi Valley State star said he would rather call it
quits than be a bit player with the Broncos.
