More on Tigers Rebels College Football Season Opener

In the Longstanding College Football Rivalry that is Memphis vs Ole's contest will go down as game the Rebels win by getting a break, and making one.

More than 53-thousand fans on hand at the Liberty Bowl see the unexpected on the Tigers first offensive series..

Starting Quarterback Patrick Byrne, making his first career start, breaks his ankle on the Third play from scrimmage.

He's done for the game, and possibly the year.

For Ole Miss, Senior QB Michael Spurloch does his best to silence the doubters, leading the Rebels to an opening drive field goal for a 3-zip lead.

Memphis, forced to turn the game over to Redshirt Sophomore Will Hudgens of Ridgeway...cut back it's game plan..but sees Hudgens mature with each possession.

A pair of Stephen Gostkowski Field Goals, including this 47-yarder..puts the Tigers up 6-3 at the half.

It stayed that way till late in the Third..

Tremain Mack picks off Hudgens and returns it deep in Tiger territory.

4th Down, Spurloch to pass..sees the end zone..and gets there on a 12-yard run.

Rebs take a 10-6 lead.
