Gas prices spike overnight in Tennessee

Triple-A says the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline increased by 27 cents across Tennessee between yesterday and today. Motorists in Knoxville are seeing the highest average price, at three dollars and twenty-eight cents ($3.28) a gallon. They also saw the highest price spike overnight, at thirty-seven cents. The Tri-Cities region has the lowest prices and the smallest increases. A gallon of regular gas there costs almost three dollars, and the price jumped last night by around twelve cents. Drivers in Memphis are paying an average of three-twelve ($3.12) for a gallon of regular gas, Nashville motorists are paying three-fourteen ($3.14) and Chattanooga drivers, three-oh-seven ($3.07).
