Jasper County Sheriff's Dept. warns public of phone scam

JASPER COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a potential phone scam.

According to Jasper County Sheriff Randy Johnson, residents of the county have reported they're getting calls from a person claiming to be with Publishers Clearing House. 

The scammer tells people they have won a large sum of money and are asking residence to send money in order to receive their award. Johnson says this suspicious act is believed to be a scam and is warning residents to be cautious when dealing with calls like this.
