Red Cross Assistance Shelter locations changed

New ÌRed Cross Assistance Centers Opening Friday

To Assist Displaced Citizens

 

The Red Cross announced late Thursday afternoon that it has taken immediate steps to register displaced citizens for food and housing benefits at two churches in Shelby County:

  • class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in">Germantown Baptist Church at 9450 Poplar Avenue 

 

These locations will be in operation Friday (September 9).  The sites offer large facilities and lots of parking to handle the growing number of evacuees needing to apply for benefits.  Hours of operation:

  • class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in">Saturday, September 10         8:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m.
  • class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in">Sunday, September 11            1:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m.
  • class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in">Monday, September 12          8:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m.

 

The Red Cross will continue to see evacuees at the service center set up at the Schering Plough Company at 3022 Jackson.  The hours of operation are the same as the churches listed above.

 

However, as a result of the added service center locations, the Red Cross will temporarily suspend registering displaced citizens for benefits at the Red Cross Headquarters building at 1400 Central.
