Vicksburg, MS (WDAM) -

Aysa Branch won the title of Miss Mississippi 2018 on Saturday following three days of preliminaries in Vicksburg. Branch was one of the first winners during day one of preliminaries in the swimsuit competition. 

A native of Booneville, Branch is a University of Mississippi student studying integrated marketing communications. 

Miss North Central Mississippi; Brooke Bullock,  Miss Northland; Holly Harrington, Miss Vicksburg; Blair Wortsmith, Miss Neshoba County Fair; Abby Stokes, Miss Red Carpet City; Leah Gibson, Miss Dixie; Rachel Shumaker, Miss University of Southern Mississippi; Macy Mitchell,  Miss Pontotoc Ridge; Dana Wesley, Miss University; Charlie Ann Nix, Miss Tupelo; Aysa Branch and Miss New South; Tanner Fant rounded out the top 11 at the start of the competition. 

The pageant, which was televised featured swimsuit, talent and on-stage questions for the top seven contestants. Miss Red Carpet City; Leah Gibson, Miss North Central Mississippi; Brooke Bullock, Miss New South; Tanner Fant, Miss University of Southern Mississippi; Macy Mitchell, Miss Northland; Holly Harrington, Miss Tupelo; Aysa Branch and Miss Pontotoc Ridge; Dana Wesley  advanced to the top seven. Each candidate was asked questions ranging from politics, the #MeToo movement, separation of immigrant children from their parents and protesting methods among others. 

Miss University of Southern Mississippi, Macy Mitchell; Miss Pontotoc Ridge, Dana Wesley; Miss Northland, Holly Harrington  and Miss New South, Tanner Fant were named fourth, third, second, and first runner-up. 

Nine of the contestants represented the Pine Belt and two--- Brooke Bullock and Macy Mitchell--- made it to the top 10 eventually advancing to the top seven. Bullock, who was a returning contestant, was a double winner in the preliminaries.
