Wife, husband behind bars in daycare molestation case

Daycare owner faces charges in child molestation case

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, MS (WMC) - A Mississippi daycare owner is facing charges after her husband was arrested for child molestation last week.

Sherry Westmoreland was taken into custody Monday in connection with the case against her husband, John Robert Westmoreland.

John was charged with six counts of child molestation in Lafayette County.

Sherry is now charged with six counts of contributing to the delinquency or neglect of children, and sex crimes against a minor – failure to make mandatory report. She is being held on a $500,000 bond.

She ran the daycare out of her home. The daycare was unlicensed because it did not serve enough children to warrant state regulation, according to the sheriff's department.

Five more victims have come forward since the original case that resulted in the arrest of her husband.

Investigators are asking any other potential victims to come forward by calling 662-234-6421.
