Mississippi State's Banana Boys donate $3,000 to Batson Children's Hospital

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A pair of famous Diamond Dawg fans gave back to Batson Children's Hospital in a big way. Storm Davis and Chip Goza were in the spotlight as the Banana Boys and they used their newfound fame for good.

They used GoFundMe to follow Mississippi State to the College World Series. Any unused dollars from the trip would go back to Batson. The Banana Boys presented a check today for $3,000.

"$1,500 we used, $1,500 was left over," Davis said. "And then a guy from where we are, Jay Shackelford and Shackelford Construction, told us he would match what we donated to Batson."

It's a cause close to the heart of the Banana Boys.

"Where I'm from, we have 3 kids that have been through Batson and that are here right now," Goza said. "And it just hits a little closer to home. Just knowing the kids, knowing what they go through. And how great of a facility this is, it just seemed like the right place."
