Four children taken to the hospital after serious traffic accident

A serious traffic accident occurred Tuesday afternoon at Watkins and Vollintine. A serious traffic accident occurred Tuesday afternoon at Watkins and Vollintine.

A serious car accident occurred Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Watkins and Vollintine in North Memphis.

Officials at the scene said a pickup truck collided with a mini-van, causing the van to flip over. Two children were thrown from the mini-van during the accident.

Four children from the van were taken to Le Bonheur, two in critical condition. The driver of the truck was also transported to the hospital.

A witness at the scene described a frightening situation.

"We had one hanging half out of the car screaming for her mama," said Essie Haney, "Another on the ground was trying to get up. She didn't know where she was or what happened. She was screaming and crying."

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the accident, as well as who was at fault.
