Rita pours rain, wind into Mid-South

Mid-Southerners are doing extra yard work today after Rita's remnants blew through.

Overnight, winds and rain were strong enough to whip trees around and create some minor flooding.

MLGW reported multiple electrical outages but said the number was small and most were back on quickly. Overall damage was very minimal.

"I haven't had any damage here and I'm so glad," said Jessie Ward. "The Lord has really taken care of us here in Memphis. They said the tornado watch was supposed to be over at 1PM and it's after 1 and we still ain't had nothing. Ain't God good."

The Emergency Management Agency fielded 18-reports of tree limbs knocked down, half a dozen reports of minor flooding and 30-reports of traffic signals damaged or without power because of the storm.
