StoryCorps pays visit to Memphis

A national project with plans to record the histories of everyday people began its visit in Memphis Thursday.

StoryCorps is a project that hopes to instruct and inspire individuals to record oral histories and create memorable experiences for its participants. Project organizers hope to conduct over 250,000 interviews over the next ten years.

With plans to visit cities big and small across the entire United States, the project will be documenting everyday history and the unique stories of grassroots America.

Individuals can reserve interview slots at StoryCorps.net, an online resource center that includes a reservation and payment system, step-by-step technical instructions on how to edit, sample recorded interviews, a 'question helper' utility and troubleshooting guide.

StoryCorps will be in Memphis at the Center for Southern Folklore, at 199 South Main Street, until October 31st.
