Bus Full of Tennessee Teenagers Crashed in Georgia

A bus carrying 48 teenagers and chaperones from Jackson, Tennessee to a youth camp in northern Georgia crashed on a hilly road late Friday night.

As many as 27 people were hurt. At least two victims were taken to hospitals in Atlanta with head injuries. Others suffered broken bones and bruises.

Allen Wingington of the Pickens County Sheriff's Department says the bus crashed into the woods at a steep turn in the road. He believes the driver drove straight and missed a turn. As of this afternoon most of the injured had been released from the hospital.

The bus was one of three travelling to a Christian youth camp near Jasper, Georgia. Others in the caravan were from the Paducah, Kentucky area.
