IRS looks for Tennesseans who are owed refunds

The Internal Revenue Service is looking for more than one thousand Tennesseans who are owed refunds on their 2004 federal income taxes. It's all part of the annual push to reach taxpayers who didn't get their money and in Tennessee that money comes to about $830,000.

If you believe you are owed a refund, you can visit the "Where's My Refund?" feature on the IRS Web site at . To search for a refund, taxpayers enter their Social Security number, filing status (such as single or married) and the amount of refund listed on their 2004 tax return. "Our goal is to get this money back in the hands of the people it belongs to," IRS spokesman Dan Boone said. "Visiting makes it easy for taxpayers to see if they've missed a refund."
