New Orleans rapper sentenced to 10 years on gun charges

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A federal judge sentenced New Orleans rapper Tab "Turk" Virgil to ten years in prison on weapons charges.

Virgil was accused of shooting Shelby County SWAT team member Chris Harris. But the rapper denies shooting Harris.

The 24-year-old was convicted in August on charges of being a felon, a drug addict, and a fugitive with a handgun.

The charges stemmed from a gunfight during a drug raid last January. Harris was shot four times as he opened a closet door in the apartment.

Virgil also faces charges of attempted murder.
