Meter reader attacked with baseball bat

DYERSBURG, Tenn. (AP) - Police say a Dyersburg woman has been arrested after she allegedly threw an aluminum baseball bat at a meter reader, who came to her home to cut off the electricity.

Geneva Lanier was charged with reckless endangerment. Police say Lanier also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest for nonpayment of child support.

Dyersburg Electric System meter reader Randy Priest came to Lanier's home last week to turn off her electricity.

According to the police report, Lanier said Priest gave her a dirty look and that's when she threw the baseball bat at him.

Priest told police he saw the baseball bat fly by his head.
