Injured soldier returns home

A Mid-South soldier returned home Tuesday to a hero's welcome.

Ripley, Mississippi National Guardsman David Yancy was wounded in Iraq in March when the Humvee he was riding in struck a roadside bomb.  For the past several months he's been undergoing therapy at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington.

At Memphis International Airport Tuesday relatives and guardsmen cheered as Yancy got off the plane with a big smile on his face.

For the next several weeks, Yancy will travel back and forth to the hospital for treatment.  His goal is to spend Christmas at his home in Ripley

As a special treat for Yancy, William Brooks, another mid-southerner who was injured in the same explosion, there to greet Yancy.  Brooks lost both of his legs in the attack.

This Sunday, family and friends will hold a special party for Yancy at the Ripley, Mississippi Fairgrounds.
