Tennessee launches anti-meth initiative

Monday Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen declared war on meth, by launching a new education program.

The program is called Meth Destroys.

The statewide program will help District Attorneys in every county -- including Shelby County -- to fight methamphetamine use -- and manufacturing.

It's also aimed at educating young people through Tennessee schools.

The Governor says the problem is critical -- since Tennessee accounted for seventy-five percent of all of the meth lab busts in the southeast.

"Tennessee has one of the worst meth problems in the United States," he said. "Last year, we seized one thousand two hundred meth labs here in the state of Tennessee

The yearlong campaign focuses on middle school and high school students.
