Murder victim's family speaks out

"The man right here has killed my sister!" shouts Damon Morris.

Morris was told his sister Utoria Morris was dead when he got home from work Wednesday. Her murdered body was found in this abandoned apartment on Carver near the Memphis Depot. Family members say she was last seen Sunday with her ex-boyfriend--the father of her three children. He's the man they say slashed her throat.

"This man," says Morris as he holds up the man's photo. "Ya'll need to be looking for him all over the city--this is him--he did it!" shouts Morris.

Memphis Police can't confirm Morris's ex-boyfriend is the prime suspect. Therefore, Action News Five won't say his name or show you his picture. But her family is convinced.

"He pulled her from the back of the house and drug her to the abandoned house," says cousin Chastity Harley.

Despite warning authorities about the danger Utoria's ex-boyfriend posed, her family says neither police nor social workers stepped in to stop him.

"Nothing gets done in Memphis 'til a dead body is produced--nothing!" says Damon Morris.

Neighbors hope nobody else ends up getting hurt.

"If he can do something what he did, now he can be dangerous to someone," says Erskine Bledsoe.

Meantime, Utoria Morris' family has a message for the man they believe needs to be brought to justice.

"You killed the mother of your children and I can't believe you'd be so selfish and selfless to do such a thing," addresses the suspect as he holds the photo of the "suspect."

They hope he gets the message and turns himself in.
