Pennsylvania man charged in Mississippi bank robbery

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - A Pennsylvania man wanted in his home state for bank robberies has been charged with a holdup in Southaven.

Police say 47-year-old Ralph Andrew Ochsenhirt, of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, has been charged with robbery of the M and F Bank on Monday.

A suspect entered the bank, jumped the counter, cleaned out the cash from a teller cage and walked back out of the bank. A dye pack stashed in the cash exploded before the suspect reached his car.

A patrolman pulled the car over and arrested Ochsenhirt.

Police recovered an undetermined amount of cash, including many of the bills that had been stained with the red dye.

Ochsenhirt is being held without bond at the DeSoto County Jail. He will likely be transferred later to the Lafayette County Jail in Oxford for processing by federal authorities.
