Air travellers brace for busy weekend

Memphis International expects at least 30-thousand people to use the airport Wednesday. We decided to check out the lines today, to give you a hint of what to expect tomorrow.

John Blevins hopes to roll through Memphis International. So he showed up hours before his flight was scheduled to depart.

"I want to see if I can get an earlier flight," he said.

Blevins went through the check-in line in about five minutes. He prepares for security before ever getting in the line.

Traveller Michael Burke's journey was fairly easy as well.

"Ticketing wasn't that bad considering I'm trying to take an earlier flight," he said. "The only problem there was is that it seems like there was a problem with the computer system,"

For Burke, the time from the door to get through security was about 25 minutes. Larry Cox with the Airport Authority said this was fairly typical.

"The Wednesday before Thanksgiving and Sunday after are two of the busiest travel days of travel at the airport," he said. "On a busy Friday it will run 30 to 45 minutes."

Cox advises travellers to plan on getting to the airport at least 2 hours before your scheduled flight.
