Preacher prays for man who allegedly punched him during church service

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - An Oklahoma preacher says he wants to pray for a man who allegedly punched him in the face during a Sunday church service.

The Reverend Billy Joe Daugherty says he has met with his alleged assailant at the Tulsa jail, but Steven Wayne Rogers showed no remorse and offered no apology.

Daugherty says he was punched after telling the biblical story of Paul and Silas being beaten and thrown into jail. He says the attack "was like an illustrated sermon."

Daugherty says he didn't know his attacker and doesn't plan to press charges.

Rogers is in jail after being arrested Sunday for failing to appear in court on a charge of violating a protective order.
