Beautillion presents young Memphians to society

Sunday night 15 of Memphis best and brightest young men were presented into formal society at the 4th Annual Kappa Alpha Psi Beautillion.

The teens were selected based on high academic standing, good moral character. Leadership ability and school and community involvement.

"As an accomplishment I see it as that I've showed society what I can do.. But also my peers, as African American brothers," said Beautillion Honoree Vernon Shaw, Jr.

"From here, put everything i've learned to use, and try to go as far as possible wherever life takes me. I'm gonna go, and be proud and be strong and be determined," said Joseph Long, another honoree.

The boys went through a series of interviews, workshops and activities to get to this night... And as they share this special evening with their families.  They realize they have also become family.

"Helping them prepare for their academic futures.. Career choices.. As well as becoming involved citizens in whatever community in which they choose to live," said Samuel Hamilton, the President of Kappa Alpha Psi.

Today's men, teaching tomorrow's men to achieve worthy goals. And grow into concerned, responsible leaders.
