Icy roads cause dangerous driving conditions from Georgia to Maryland

More than 700,000 homes and businesses began the day without power after a frigid night allowed ice to build up.

At least four deaths are blamed on the weather. Two separate traffic accidents in Maryland killed two men. A FedEx truck driver was killed when his vehicle hit an SUV that lost control on the Capital Beltway in Virginia, and a North Carolina man sitting on his couch was killed when a 100-foot tree heavy with ice crashed into his house.

25 crashes on a Maryland interstate closed a stretch of the roadway.

Forecasters are warning that dense morning fog could make an extra coat of ice in the below-freezing weather. Hundreds of accidents were reported yesterday.

Utility companies say it'll take days to fully restore power.
