Overnight apartment fire leaves eight homeless

Four adults and four children are without a home this morning after a fire ripped through their Memphis apartment.

The fire started late last night at the Walden Point Apartments at 4181 Kings Bay Drive. Memphis Fire crews were called to the scene just after 10 o'clock. When they arrived at the apartment complex they saw smoke billowing from the back of the apartment. But it didn't take long for crews to get the fire under control.

"They made an entry in to the second floor apartment and got on it pretty good", said Division Chief John Pillsbury. "We had to venilate through the roof they got on it with the hose lines. And kept it from spreading to the other apartments." No one was hurt in the fire.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
