For long suffering Tiger fans this one was for you. In a huge game, with tons of hype, the Tigers delivered in a big way, beating 8th ranked Gonzaga on national television, 83-72. The first sell out crowd of the season saw just how good this Memphis team is.
After trailing by 5 points at the half, the Tigers got it gear. Darius Washington, who was questionable before the game with a deep thigh bruise, buried a 3 to get things going. He led Memphis with 22 points. But the Zags still led by 3 when All-American Adam Morrison made a baseline jumper. he scored 34 points but that was one of the last buckets he would make. The Tigers locked him down in the last 10 minutes of the game and that made the difference.
The 4th ranked Tigers win by 11 points improving their record to 10-1. It's a happy night indeed for Tiger fans! They host Purdue Friday night at FedExForum
