DeAngelo Williams Sets Motor City Bowl Record

If there's one thing for certain, this is a great time to be a Memphis Tiger.

DeAngelo Williams' decision to come back for his senior season continues to pay off.

Upon reviewing the play-by-play and video footage from the Tigers win over Akron in the Motor City Bowl, it was determined there was an error resulting in one less carry and five fewer yards for Williams.

The play in question was in the third quarter, when quarterback Maurice Avery was credited with a five-yard run that should have been given to Williams.

DeAngelo ends the game with 31 carries for 238 yards instead of the 30 carries for 233 yards that was originally reported, meaning he set a Motor City Bowl record in rushing.

The change has been submitted to the NCAA office and will be reflected in the final NCAA statistics.

Williams ends the season with 1,964 yards and 18 touchdowns.

He ranks fourth all-time in NCAA history in rushing, ending his career with 6,026 yards and 55 touchdowns.

He also holds the NCAA record in all-purpose yards with 7,573.
