NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Steve McNair says he is very confident
he and the Tennessee Titans can agree to a contract that will keep
him with the team next season.
The quarterback is due a 50 (M) million dollar option bonus this
off-season and would count 26-point-8 (M) million dollars against
the salary cap. It's a deal that must be renegotiated to save
crucial cap space.
McNair also says he is open to playing three or four more years
if needed to make a contract work. He says he thinks they will come
to agreement but will prepare for the worst.
Nevertheless he wants it done - in his words - "sooner than
McNair says his health isn't a question even though right now he
has a strained right pectoral muscle that could keep him out of
Sunday's season finale at Jacksonville.
