McNair Gone?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Steve McNair says he is very confident

he and the Tennessee Titans can agree to a contract that will keep

him with the team next season.

The quarterback is due a 50 (M) million dollar option bonus this

off-season and would count 26-point-8 (M) million dollars against

the salary cap. It's a deal that must be renegotiated to save

crucial cap space.

McNair also says he is open to playing three or four more years

if needed to make a contract work. He says he thinks they will come

to agreement but will prepare for the worst.

Nevertheless he wants it done - in his words - "sooner than

later."

McNair says his health isn't a question even though right now he

has a strained right pectoral muscle that could keep him out of

Sunday's season finale at Jacksonville.
