Texas Shuts Down Tigers

Tt is was bound to happen sooner or later, the 4th ranked Tigers suffer a letdown. They got off to an awful start against 15th ranked Texas and wound up losing 69-58 at a sold out FedExForum Monday. They watched the Tigers come out ice cold missing 13 of the first 14 shots. The longhorns meanwhile jumped out to a 21-7 lead thanks to the hot hands of Daniel Gibson and PJ Tucker.

Memphis got a spark when Darius Washington  threw one upcourt to Rodney Carney for a slam. Then some great hustle, Waki Williams got dirty on the floor for a loose ball kicked it out to Carney for 3 and the Tigers are within 6. Carney led Memphis with 22 and the Tigers trailed by 6 at the half They completed the comeback with 8 minutes left after Shawne Williams made a 3, then Darius Washington stole the ball and put it back in for a 5 point play to tie the game tied at 45. The Tigers would go up 2 but couldn't hold it.

Tucker led Texas with 24 points and 13 rebounds. While Tiger star Shawne Williams was just 2-14 from the field for 10 points. The Tigers will try and get back on track Wednesday against Middle Tennessee State.
