Small earthquake rumbles in Mississippi County

WILSON JUNCTION, Ark. (AP) - Scientists at the University of Memphis' Center for Earthquake Research and Information say a pair of small earthquakes rumbled in Mississippi County, Arkansas.

The first earthquake hit Monday morning just north of the town of Wilson Junction at a magnitude 1.5.

The second hit northeast of Lowden at a magnitude 1.7.

The U-S Geological Survey placed the earthquake just north of the town of Wilson Junction. The Mississippi County Sheriff's Office said it received no calls about the quake. Later yesterday, an earthquake rattled an area in southern Illinois, but no damage was reported.
