Man suspected in Memphis slaying arrested in Iowa

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - A fugitive on the run for more than five years after a Memphis killing has been caught in Iowa.

Police say 33-year-old Christopher Harrison was arrested yesterday in Cedar Rapids by U-S Marshals and Iowa state troopers. Tennessee authorities provided the tip that led to Harrison's arrest.

He's accused of fatally shooting 25-year-old Michael Jones in June 1999 at a Memphis apartment complex.

A deputy US Marshal says he found no family ties and says Jones arrived in Cedar Rapids about May of last year.

A spokeswoman for the Shelby County prosecutor's office says no decision has been made about whether to seek the death penalty if Jones is convicted.
