Navy deserter captured by marshals

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A Navy deserter accused of embezzling 600-thousand dollars from the Naval Finance Center in Millington has been arrested by U-S Marshals in Pensacola, Florida.

The U-S Marshals Office says 23-year-old Tramaine Williams escaped from Naval police custody in early November after he was arrested by the military on charges of embezzling from the finance center where he was stationed. The marshals say he was captured last night.

A Marshals spokesman says Williams did not resist when he was arrested in his car.

Investigators said they found 160 grams of marijuana in the car and a .38 caliber pistol.

Authorities say two people who were in the car with Williams, including a juvenile, were questioned and released.
