Man once convicted in child pornography case charged again

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A Memphis man who was convicted on child pornography charges seven years ago has been arrrested again.

Authorities say a Collierville woman called police on January sixth after finding her 15-year-old was having sexual conversations on the Internet.

The same day, an FBI agent posing as the child set up a meeting with 46-year-old Peter Vermilye. Police say Vermilye went to Collierville Elementary School, expecting to meet the teen, but found police instead.

Collierville Police Captain Tommy McCaskill says Vermilye is charged with soliciting a minor for sex and sexual battery. Vermilye was convicted in 1998 after he mailed a Web camera to a Texas boy and talked him into sending explicit photos of himself over the Internet.

He was also caught by a U-S Postal Inspector who posed as a 16-year-old boy.

Vermilye was sentenced to four years in prison then. He is listed on the Tennessee Sexual Offenders Registry.
