The Memphis Grizzlies will host the 4th annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration Monday night at FedExFourm. The NBA has really endorsed the idea and will make it the marquee game once again, televising it nationally on TNT.
In past years they've honored stars of the past like Bill Russell and Larry Finch. They'll do so again with the National Civil Rights Museum's Freedom Awards. There's also the symposium where players past and present talk with the public. Grizzlies forward Eddie Jones is looking forward to it.
" You know being an african american and being able to celebrate MLK day by playing on television is a great honor."
As for the basketball, the Grizzlies and Spurs go back at it after Saturday's thriller in San Antonio. Game time is 7pm at FedExForum.
