Sheriff charges grandson in fatal stabbing

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - Hardin County authorities have charged a 22-year-old man in the fatal stabbing of his grandfather.

Police say Fred McAnally was stabbed several times. Deputies who were called to McAnally's home found him dead in the kitchen on Saturday. The victim was 55.

The Sheriff's Department and the TBI recovered a large butcher knife from the scene.

Authorities arrested James Wilson Junior and charged him with first-degree murder. The grandson was taken to Western Mental Health Center in Bolivar to be evaluated.

Sheriff Sammy Davidson says his office got a call from someone who lives next door. The caller said Wilson was saying he had beaten his grandfather to death.

The suspect had been staying at the victim's house.
