Voters in District 29 give mixed opinions on election controversy

Lunch time voter opinions in District 29 on the Tennessee Senate's move to oust Ophelia Ford were as hot as the griddle at Renee's Restaurant.

"I believe race has a big thing to do with this," said voter Lisa Brown, "and her brothers...I don't think that should be involved."

But with the evidence of fraud in the election piling up, Brown believes the only way to wrap up the controversy is a new election.

"I think it should be done again," she said. "I think everyone deserves a fair chance."

At a coffee house near Ford's neighborhood, voters said it's the fraud that's the issue, not the winner.

"In my opinion the Senate had the right to make that vote given all the circumstances," said voter Jason Bowles.

Julie Ray also agreed with the Senate's decision. "If she wins again, I think that's great, but there was something funny going on, I don't know what it was, but I think it's the right thing to do," she said.

All voters seemed to agree that they would be watching to see how the senate would vote on Thursday.
