Miss. lawmakers promote Tunica casino monorail study

TUNICA, Miss. (AP) - Some Mississippi lawmakers are pursuing a transportation study on a monorail system to link the casinos in Tunica County, similar to the one operating in Las Vegas.

The monorail would also link the casinos with the Tunica airport and lead to Southaven. The monorail could then link up with the proposed Memphis light rail system and connect to the Memphis International Airport

Mississippi state Representative John Mayo says the discussions are preliminary -- the start of a 20-year plan.
