One person shot after game at East High

There was action on and off the court last night at East High School after shots rang out following a basketball game.

Memphis police say it happened just after nine o'clock and up to 10 shots were fired.

One person was hit in the arm and has been released from the hospital. Another person is under arrest.

"We walked out the game and all the sudden heard shooting--everybody ducked and fell on the ground," said witness Markenis Benton." (It) was scary--anybody could have got hurt--people with kids, etc.--anybody could have got hurt."

Last night's game pitted East High against Melrose. Witnesses told Action News 5 that violence is common whenever those two schools meet.
