Hang on for a ride to the top. Currently ranked 3rd in the country, the Memphis Tiger's push for Number One is in now in the cross hairs. Their next 8 games will be against Conference USA teams with a combined losing record. The stretch started this afternoon at FedExForum with a 94-61 win over Central Florida.
Shawne Williams got things started with the 3-ball from the top of the key. Williams had 16 points on the day. Rodney Carney led all scorers with 26 and the Tigers went into the lockerroom with the 42-30 lead at halftime. It didn't get ugly until the 2nd half. Antonio Anderson found his shot and had 14 points and 5 boards. Waki Williams came off the bench to score a season high 15 points and the Tigers win by 33, 94-61 but there's no such thing as perfection.
"Again we got guys that started this game like we just don't have to play. The energy in the 2nd half was tremendous and that's how we had to play. Not everyone played well. Darius didn't have one of his better games but that's fine," said John Caliapri after the game.
