New tax laws help people save money on home improvements

A number of new tax laws are helping more people trim their tax bills and get money back on home improvement projects.

The tax credits you can claim this year are for improvements already made or in the works for 2006 and 2007. The tax breaks aren't big; usually about 10% of the cost of the project. The maximum credit you can earn is $500.
