Body found in park near Memphis high school

Memphis Homicide investigators are on the scene of an apparent homicide this afternoon, after the body of a deceased 23-year-old male was discovered inside the trunk of a Pontiac Grand Prix at Weaver Park, just west of Mitchell High School.

According to police, the vehicle had been reported missing in connection to a missing person report filed February 13, 2006, to the Shelby County Sheriff's office. A friend of the owner observed the vehicle and contacted the owner, who in turn called the Sheriff's Department. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies observed what appeared to be blood on the back of the vehicle, and Memphis Police homicide investigators were called in. The case is currently being investigated as a homicide.
