Former West Memphian Kimberly Derrick gets he first taste of Winter Olympics action tonight in Torino, Italy.
Derrick Skates the 4th leg on the American's 3,000 meter Relay team.
This is the "B" final heats of the day, as Derrick helps glide the USA to the top of their heat in a time of 4-minutes, 18.74 seconds..
That's less than a second off the day's best time set by the Gold Medal winning Koreans...
So, No medal for the U.S...but a great run and good experience for the next Relay this weekend.
Also, Derrick is one of 2-Americans competing in the Women's 1,000 meter short track event...
She overtakes a Japanese skater on the last lap to take second in her heat.
The move helps her advance to the Quarterfinals coming up Saturday.
