Bass Pro Shops officially announce plans for the Pyramid

Bass Pro Shops officially announced their plans for the Pyramid at press conference at the arena Friday morning.

Company officials said they plan to put their largest and most unique store ever in the Tomb of Doom. According to plans, the new retail outlet will dwarf many of the existing Bass Pro Shops across the nation, including the present Bass Pro Shops locations in Memphis and Nashville.

Plans unveiled Friday show the store will have a climbing wall, a place to test-drive boats, a restaurant, and even a hotel. One of the walkways leading into the Pyramid will be covered by a giant canopy that will look like a fish, and there are plans for the arena's inclinator to be active, and shaped like a giant fishhook.

In all, Bass Pro Shops officials said the company plans to invest at least $75 million to make the project a reality.

The project is still in its planning stages, and no official contracts have yet to be signed with the city. Officials with Bass Pro Shops said they currently plan to open the Pyramid arena store sometime in 2008.
