Tigers Carney Up for Another National Honor

However far the Memphis Tigers go in the NCAA Tournament will depend, in large part, not on their fantastic Freshman contingent, but on their lone sensational Senior.

Rodney Carney is turning his fabulous final season into a bevy of awards nominations

The latest, he's one of 10 finalists for the Oscar Robertson Trophy as the U.S. Basketball Writers Association National Player of the Year.

Widely recognized as the College games' most electrifying player, Carney is in good company, nominated with Dukes' J.J. Redick and Sheldon Williams, Gonzaga's Adam Morrison, and Illinois' Dee Brown among others.

Carney is the 5th all-Time leading scorer in U of M history, and is the schools' all-Time leading 3-point shooter.

The Tigers play at U.A.B. Thursday night.
