Tigers Escape on Senior Night

This years Memphis Tigers aren't used to losing. When UAB shocked the 3rd ranked Tigers Thursday it was just the 3rd loss of the season. The Tigers looking to get back on track in the regular season finale. Memphis will say goodbye to Rodney Carney and Waki Williams after the NCAA tournament, but first the Houston Cougars. They come out scratching... Laney Smith off the steal...its a race to the basket, he gets it to fall and the foul, they're off to a 10-1 to start. Darius Washington now driving for Memphis but he is rejected hard. That's gonna lead to bucket on the other...Houston up 11 out of the gate... a terrible first half for Memphis with 14 turnovers....John Calipari wants a timeout! The Tigers regroup, Shawne Williams a big 3 and the Tigers trim the lead down to just 2 at intermission.

In the 2nd half it doesn't take long for the Tigers to get in gear...DWash drops a 3, so does Carney who led the Tigers with 17 points and the Tigers open up an 8 point lead. But Houston doesn't back down Jahmar Thorpe gives the Cougars the lead 52-50 with a 3 from the corner and they're trading baskets. But Washington makes the shot of the game with about 2 minutes left high off the glass and the foul. The Tigers win another close one 69-62 and win the conference.

Now its on to the CUSA tournament starting Wednesday at FedExForum.
