School's neighbors fear crime will worsen

Action News 5 has new information tonight about a deadly shooting in the Buena Vista Apartments across from Trezevant High School.

Residents living in and around the apartments say crime in their community is out of control.

According to police a double shooting involving two teenage victims Friday night was likely gang related.

"I think the gangs in the schools is way out of control," said Vicky Hodge whose niece attends Trezevant.

Police say those two young men had been involved in a fight at the school during a dance Friday night. When they left the school they drove behind a building at the Buena Vista Apartments and that's where they were shot.

"Kids were running in every direction," said Hodge. "I went over to the school to find my niece, once I got there I looked across the street and saw police everywhere."

A crowd at the school jamboree heard several gunshots.

Seventeen-year-old Terrence Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim was hospitalized in critical condition.

Neighbors say as long as gang members are allowed to remain in their midst, they fear the crime in their community will only get worse.
