The Bluff City will host the biggest fight in boxing this Summer. Undisputed Middleweight champion Jermaine Taylor will defend his title against Winky Wright at FedExForum June 17th.. The two met with the media this morning at FEF. Promoters are billing this as the biggest middleweight fight since Hagler vs. Leonard 25 years ago. Taylor, a Little Rock native, is a perfect 25-0.
"I ain't ran from nobody. When I was a kid I never ran. If we fought and you won, I 'd go home and come back tomorrow. I not down with that running. If you claim to be the best you fight the best," Taylor proclaimed after two hard fought wins over Bernard Hopkins over the past year.
"I'm coming from the undisputed Jr. Middleweight champion, to moving up to the Middleweight champion so it's gonna be a great fight," said the elder Wright, who at 35, is 50-3 over his career.
