It was a big day for DeAngelo Williams and other former Memphis Tiger football players. 40 NFL scouts representing 22 teams were at campus this morning with their stop watches for Pro Day. DeAngelo and 13 of his former teammates, like wide out Maurice Avery, tight end John Douchette, and lineman Marcus West, were getting timed and evaluated.
The big event was the 40 yard dash and Deangelo disn't disappoint. He delivered a 4.4. That's pretty good considering windy conditions. After that former Tiger quarterback Danny Wimprine threw some passes to him. In all a good day for DeAngelo.
" Did I have a goal? No. I just wanted to come out and run fast because a lot of people were saying I was a 4.5 - 4.6 guy and we came out here today and proved them wrong," said Williams afterward.
Most mock drafts have DeAngelo going mid to late first round. He'll know for sure April 29th when the 2006 NFL draft kicks off.
